What is a CAS (Consolidated Account Statement)?
A Consolidated Account Statement (CAS) is a combined statement that aggregates all your mutual fund investments across every fund house (AMC) in India, into a single document. Instead of receiving separate statements from HDFC Mutual Fund, SBI Mutual Fund, Axis Mutual Fund, and so on, the CAS brings everything together.
The CAS is generated by the two central registrar and transfer agents that service India's mutual fund industry: CAMS (Computer Age Management Services) and KFintech (formerly Karvy). Every AMC in India is registered with one of these two RTAs, and they maintain the official transaction records for all investors.
A typical CAS contains the following information:
- Investor name, PAN, and contact details
- Portfolio period (start date and end date of the statement)
- All folios across all AMCs serviced by that RTA
- Complete transaction history: purchases, redemptions, SIP instalments, switches, dividends, and bonus units
- Transaction-level details: date, amount, units, NAV at time of transaction
- Closing unit balance and closing NAV as of the statement date
- Current market value of each scheme
The CAS is password-protected. By default, the password is your PAN in uppercase (for example, ABCDE1234F).
CAMS vs KFintech: What's the Difference?
India has two RTAs servicing mutual funds. Depending on which AMCs you have invested in, your holdings will be split across CAMS and KFintech. Most investors with a diversified portfolio need to download CAS from both.
| Feature | CAMS | KFintech |
|---|---|---|
| Portal | camsonline.com | mfs.kfintech.com |
| AMCs covered (examples) | HDFC, Nippon, Axis, DSP, Franklin, Aditya Birla, Kotak, ICICI Prudential, Mirae | SBI, UTI, IDFC, Sundaram, Invesco, Tata, Canara Robeco, PGIM, Edelweiss |
| CAS includes | All folios under CAMS-serviced AMCs | All folios under KFintech-serviced AMCs |
| Format | Password-protected PDF | Password-protected PDF |
| Password | PAN in uppercase | PAN in uppercase |
Both RTAs now also offer a combined CAS (showing folios across both) via the MFCentral portal (mfcentral.com), which is a joint initiative by CAMS and KFintech. However, individual CAS downloads from each portal remain the most reliable for detailed transaction data.
How to Download Your CAS from CAMS (Step by Step)
Follow these steps to download your Consolidated Account Statement from the CAMS portal:
- 1 Go to camsonline.com and navigate to Mailback Services > Consolidated Account Statement, or directly visit the CAS section.
- 2 Select "Detailed" statement type (this includes full transaction history. Always choose Detailed, not Summary).
- 3 Enter your email address registered with mutual funds and your PAN.
- 4 Select your preferred date range. For a complete portfolio history, choose "Since Inception" or the full period from your first investment.
- 5 Choose whether you want All Folios or specific folios. Select "All Folios" for a complete picture.
- 6 Click Submit. CAMS will email the password-protected PDF to your registered email address within a few minutes.
- 7 Open the PDF and enter your PAN in uppercase as the password (e.g., ABCDE1234F).
Tip: If you have multiple email IDs registered across different folios, you may need to download a separate CAS for each email address to capture all your investments.
How to Download Your CAS from KFintech
For mutual funds serviced by KFintech (SBI, UTI, Tata, Sundaram, etc.), follow these steps:
- 1 Visit mfs.kfintech.com and look for the Investor Services > Account Statement section.
- 2 Enter your registered email address and PAN.
- 3 Select the statement type and choose "Detailed" for full transaction history.
- 4 Select the period and choose the full date range or "Since Inception" to capture all transactions.
- 5 Verify the OTP sent to your email or phone, then submit the request.
- 6 KFintech will email the CAS PDF to your registered email. Open it with your PAN in uppercase as the password.
What Information Does a CAS PDF Contain?
A detailed CAS PDF is structured section by section, AMC by AMC. Here is exactly what you will find inside:
- Investor information: Full name, PAN, registered address, contact details
- Portfolio period: The date range covered by the statement
- Opening balance: Units held at the start of the period
- AMC-wise sections: Each fund house's folios are listed separately
- Folio details: Folio number, scheme name, ISIN, plan (Growth/IDCW), option
- Full transaction history: Every purchase, SIP instalment, redemption, switch-in, switch-out, dividend payout, and bonus unit credit, with date, amount (₹), units, and NAV
- Closing balance: Total units held at the end of the period, closing NAV, and market value
- Cost of acquisition: Total amount invested in the scheme
This granular transaction-level data is what makes CAS so powerful. It allows you to compute your true returns (XIRR) and exact tax liability (LTCG/STCG) with complete accuracy.
How to Analyse Your CAS PDF for Free
Reading a CAS PDF manually, especially if you have many folios and years of transactions, is tedious and error-prone. This is exactly why we built the MFTools.in Portfolio Analyzer.
Simply upload your CAMS or KFintech CAS PDF (or both) to our analyser. Our tool parses the PDF entirely in your browser and gives you:
- Portfolio XIRR: your true annualised return across all funds
- Fund-wise XIRR: see which funds are actually delivering
- Tax P&L report: STCG and LTCG broken down by fund and financial year
- Holdings dashboard: current portfolio value, allocation by AMC and category
- Transaction history: searchable and filterable
- Investment heatmap: see when you invested and how much
Your PDF never leaves your browser. 100% private. All parsing and calculations happen directly on your device. No data is ever uploaded to any server. No login required.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often is CAS generated?
A CAS is generated automatically every month by CAMS or KFintech if there has been any transaction in your folio during that period. You can also request an on-demand CAS for any date range from their portals at any time. There is no limit on how many times you can request it.
Is CAS different from a regular account statement?
Yes. A regular account statement from a single AMC shows only that fund house's transactions. A CAS (Consolidated Account Statement) aggregates all your mutual fund folios across all AMCs, generated centrally by CAMS or KFintech, giving you a single unified view of your entire portfolio. It is the most complete document available for mutual fund investors.
What is the password for a CAS PDF?
The default password for a CAS PDF downloaded from CAMS or KFintech is your PAN number in uppercase (for example, ABCDE1234F). The password is case-sensitive. Ensure caps lock is on when entering it. If your PAN is in lowercase anywhere, convert it to uppercase.
